The National University of Samoa, in collaboration with COL, is pleased to announce the completion of the Youth Training Project. This programme, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand, has provided 169 young individuals ages 18-35 with essential skills in areas such as Computing (MS Excel and Word), Time Management, Fundamental Mathematics, Basic Plumbing, Agriculture and more.
The goals of the training were to enhance access to vocational training and continuing education, thus increasing employment opportunities. It aimed to foster continuous education and training, instilling the values of productive youth and motivating them to lead enriched lives through a platform where they can develop and demonstrate their skills. The programme also sought to inspire the youth to be independent and proactive agents of change through continuous education, offering targeted training that broadened their knowledge and skills in their chosen fields.
Participants said they expressed joy and felt honoured to engage in the NUS learning environment. For many from rural areas, it was their first experience on the campus, leaving them grateful. They also found the training engaging, with activities that were both enjoyable and easy to understand.
