On September 15-17, Dr Rajni Chand, the Director of the Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL) and the Pacific Centre for Flexible and Open Learning for Development (PACFOLD), University of South Pacific, Fiji, facilitated a workshop on establishing the Africa Regional Centre for Open TVET (ARCOT) at the Kenya School of TVET in Nairobi, Kenya. During the event, she showcased the Pacific TVET Online Toolkit, which was designed and developed by COL with funding from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). She also shared her experience managing COL’s regional centre in the Pacific. Robert Okinda, COL’s Adviser: Skills, stated that COL is establishing a regional centre for Africa focused on capacity and capability building of TVET practitioners for the implementation of competency-based training and assessments for blended TVET delivery. TVET leaders and trainers in industry or institutions utilise micro-learning resources available on the Toolkit for self-directed learning for their professional development.
